Player Development Programs
WMYSA believes the ability to continue to grow as a player has a direct correlation with maximizing the number of quality touches the player can have on the ball. This is why off season training can be an effective alternative to rest and relaxation. Don’t get us wrong; we aren’t saying we don’t feel players need down time or opportunity to play other sports. We feel long periods of inactivity with the sport can lead to a loss of ball control and ball skills.
So for those players who want more, WMYSA has numerous opportunities for young players to develop throughout the year. WMYSA has a summer camp for players U8 to U14. Many of our clubs also offer training opportunities in the off season which a player, regardless of their club affiliation, is able to participate.
Additionally colleges in our league boundaries such as Lake Michigan College, Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University have camps and clinics as does our state organization, Michigan State Youth Soccer Association.
