Local Area Player/Coach Development Opportunities
The process for tournament approval includes an endorsement by the league for games played in our boundaries under the large umbrella of MSYSA and USYSA. Prior to 2006, WMYSA approved tournaments for the Portage Soccer Classic and the KISS Tournament run by TKO.
WMYSA does not charge any fees for reviewing and endorsing a tournament application. WMYSA receives no benefit from any tournament held within our geographical area.
Starting around 2007, Kingdom soccer began running tournaments under the approval of US Club Soccer, with a tournament over Labor Day weekend. Around the same time, TKO began running a second tournament in addition to KISS called the Fall Futbol Frenzy in August, promptly followed by a second tournament from Kingdom in early April 2008 prior to the WMYSA season, also under the approval of US Club Soccer.
In 2008 SoccerZone started a tournament that was for U12 & under division, which was heldover the Labor Day weekend. This tournament was not approved by WMYSA and was not sanctioned by MSYSA. In 2009, SoccerZone expanded their tournament to include full field games and requested WMYSA endorse their tournament to be covered under MSYSA/USYSA.
Since WMYSA was getting more and more request the board defined a policy for tournament sponsorship. The board felt WMYSA should place minimal restrictions to sponsorship for tournaments. The policy can be reviewed in detail by clicking on this Tournament Sponsorship policy link.
New Rules and Regulations:
WMYSA (together with MSYSA) administers 4 types of Special Requests. These are:
- Player releases
- Player transfers
- Dual rosters
- Play-up requests of more than one year

WMYSA Supports USSF World Cup Soccer Bid.
WMYSA made a total donation of $4,350 to the US World Cup bid. This was a combination of club donations of $1850 and WMYSA of $2,500. Thanks to all that contributed. WMSYA was recognized at the MSYSA AGM as one of two Platinum level league donors. Also, MSYSA will match that donation making our combined MSYSA/WMYSA donation $8,700.
At the MSYSA Annual Meeting a board member of USSF addressed the members and requested in addition to funds that we Encourage our Members to Sign the World Cup Support Petition. Please consider doing this by going to http://www.gousabid.com/page/s/sticker and entering your information.
